When: 19:25 | Saturday 18/08/2018

Where: Metricon Stadium

Preview:

This might be the ‘Q Clash’, but I don’t think it will be fiercely contested as the Suns haven’t been competitive in the second half of the year.

Gold Coast has been playing a lot of young players but I’ve been more impressed with Brisbane’s young players such as Jarrod Berry, Cameron Rayner and Hugh McCluggage.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot to be excited about from the Suns.

Dayne Beams’ has had an amazing year and should be in line for All Australian selection.
He’s no longer the captain but that hasn’t impacted his form.
KEY BATTLE: Jarrod Witts v Stefan Martin
Witts v Martin in the ruck is probably the only genuine one-on-one match-up that we will see for four quarters.
Martin will be too athletic and get the points.
The Verdict
Brisbane, who lead the Suns 9-6 since 2010, to finish off the year strongly with another win.

AFL News:

Brisbane defender Darcy Gardiner won’t play in the AFL club’s last two games of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Gardiner dislocated his shoulder early in the Lions’ defeat to Collingwood at the weekend and will undergo surgery on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old key-position player has been one of Brisbane’s best but will be sidelined as the Lions take on local rivals Gold Coast on Saturday and then West Coast at the Gabba in the final round.

He is expected to be fully recovered in around five months.

“Darcy’s had a wonderfully consistent year for us and has formed an integral part in the growth of our backline,” Lions general manager of football David Noble said.

“We look forward to his return in the 2019 pre-season.”
