Giants glad to face Suns without Ablett

GWS coach Leon Cameron admits he’s sleeping easier this week because he doesn’t have Gary Ablett to worry about in Saturday’s AFL clash with Gold Coast.

“I’m probably happy that he’s not playing this week,” Cameron told reporters on Wednesday.

“He’s such a good player – he can give you nightmares.”

While they’re the younger expansion team, the seventh-placed Giants (2-1) are well ahead of the winless Suns on the ladder.

But Cameron felt the Suns should have beaten Geelong last weekend and warned they would be tough opponents in the clash in Canberra even without their champion captain.

“They’ve had the wood over us the last two years, in fact they’ve probably dominated us,” said Cameron.

“It’s going to be a very, very tight game.”
