Coming off a thrilling one goal win over Carlton last week, the Western Bulldogs head down the highway to take on the 0-2 Cats to kick off AFLW Round 3.

It was an inspiring performance from the Bulldogs skipper Ellie Blackburn with two goals in the final quarter that ensured the Daughters of the West got their first win since Round 1 of last season.

So far in season 2021, the Western Bulldogs are playing a highly entertaining, high-pressure brand of football and can be the kind of team that would beat anyone on their day.

The Bulldogs will go in comfortable favourites at the Winx-like, or should we say Black Caviar-like (given Celine Moody the daughter of Ladbrokes own Peter plays for them and it’s Black Caviar Lighting Stakes day on Saturday) odds at $1.16 and rightly so.

Geelong has had a tough start to the season, belted by North in Round 1 and despite a strong start, the Cats went down to the Pies by 29 points at Victoria Park last week.

One positive out of the game was that the Cats were able to score their first goal within 38 seconds of the first quarter last Saturday, opposed to late in the last quarter which was the case in the North Melbourne game.

Two matches in and it’s looking like a tough season is on the cards for the Geelong women.

The Western Bulldogs should be too good for them and very happy to take them at the 25+ points margin.
