Preview:
The Cats take on the Tigers on Sunday, 3.20PM at the MCG. Geelong should be able to win this one, with Richmond playing some very ordinary football at the moment with a 2-4 record this season. The Cats will want to bounce back form their their first loss of the season against Port Adelaide, a defeat which saw them lose top spot on the ladder. It’s hard to see the Tigers troubling the Cats too much in this game, with Richmond still a long way from their 2013 form and things unlikely to improve this round.

News:
Under-pressure Richmond can expect no favours from Geelong as they seek a way through their malaise.
The Tigers boast wins over bottom-four sides Carlton and Brisbane in their season so far and powerhouse Geelong is exactly the side they don’t need to face.
Two form-lines suggest a tough day out for the Tigers: nine straight losses to the Cats, who simply don’t lose back-to-back games.
Fresh from a loss to Port Adelaide, Geelong on-baller Taylor Hunt has issued a timely reminder of the Cats’ ruthless streak.
“It’s always important to bounce back and it’s something we do very well,” Hunt said.
“I can’t remember too many times Geelong lost back to back games.”
Indeed, since the start of their dominant era in 2007, Geelong have suffered back to back losses just four times in more than 150 matches.
Hunt added more pressure on the Tigers, declaring it a must-win.
“Their season is on the line,” he said,” and we are expecting them to come out firing.”
“If we let them play their type of footy they’re pretty tough to beat.”
“They move the ball fast with their run and carry … but if we can pressure them as much as we can and force them to turn the ball over, that’ll help us win.”
Coach Damien Hardwick has seen improvement in the Tigers’ win-loss every season at the club but a loss to Geelong would have him within one defeat of ending that streak.
After 15 wins last season, Richmond sit 2-4 with last week’s miserable showing against Hawthorn a demonstrable sign of a club heading backwards.
Hardwick has dropped four players and welcomes back Brett Deledio and Alex Rance in search of respite.
And while that relief could be at hand – after Geelong and the bye they face the Demons and Giants – another miserable MCG showing could give Richmond a fortnight of tough scrutiny.
For the Cats, coach Chris Scott has the luxury of naming Steven Motlop for the first time this season after overcoming an achilles complaint.
