Winless North Melbourne will have their sights set on snapping an nine-year hoodoo against undefeated Geelong on Sunday afternoon.

North’s last win over the Cats came way back in 2015, and based on everything we’ve seen from these two clubs so far, it’s hard to get on board with the idea of that streak being snapped anytime soon.

Geelong has its flaws, but their work around the ruck has been exceptional, not to mention the relentless pressure Chris Scott’s team has applied since the season began.

The Cats currently rank second in tackles per-game, which in turn has helped them get the ball inside 50 at an alarming rate to set up goals for Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins.

North has shown flashes at times, particularly through the midfield after Harry Sheezel again got his hands on the footy 35 times in last week’s blowout loss to Brisbane.

Still, consistent efforts are far and few between – particularly early on with North winning just one first quarter in the four games they’ve played.
