Geelong Cats vs Melbourne Demons 2013 AFL Round 16 preview and tips

Geelong, as they more often than not do, met the challenge last week and defeated Hawthorn by ten points last week in yet another monumental clash between the two sides.

It took Geelong to 48 competition points, the same as Hawthorn.

It was the Cats’ twelfth win of the season and this week, against a team that hasn’t won that many games in the past three seasons, there’s only ever going to be one result here.

Melbourne had a brief moment in the sun two weeks back with a three point win over the Western Bulldogs and, although losing last week to Sydney, did compete to the end and reduced the third quarter deficit of 50 points to 31.

The last time Melbourne got the better of Geelong was way back in 2006!

Geelong’s average winning margin over the past five encounters with Melbourne has been 74 points, but take away the 186 point drumming Geelong handed to Melbourne in 2011 and the average winning margin is 46 points.

They’re giving Melbourne 67.5 this weekend.
