There still may be five rounds to go but the Brownlow Medal is as good as Gary Ablett’s according to online bookmaker sportsbet, who have paid out early on more than $270,000 worth of bets for him to win his second Medal!
Currently priced at $1.33, anyone who backed Ablett to win the Brownlow since the market opened the day after the 2012 count will be paid as winners.
The favourite since day one, he has been so well backed that there has been more money for him to win the Medal compared to the next six players in the market combined.
“All the money has been for Ablett, he has been in brilliant form, his team is winning and his biggest competition in Jobe Watson has been injured. There is no doubt in our mind that Gaz will be claiming his second Brownlow, so we see no reason not to pay out now!” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
While punters who backed Ablett have been paid out, the market is still open and punters can still back Ablett as well as any other player.
Opening as a $8.00 favourite, amazingly he hasn’t gone over double figures since the market was opened, with his highest price being $9.00.
This is the second time sportsbet.com.au have paid out early on the Brownlow Medal. However it didn’t go to plan the first time around after paying out early on Chris Judd to win the 2011 Brownlow only to see Dane Swan claim it!
