Fremantle make offer to Hooker: report

Essendon swingman Cale Hooker is reportedly mulling a big-money offer to join Fremantle at the end of the season.

Hooker, 27, is currently serving a ban for an anti-doping violation for his involvement in the Bombers’ ill-fated 2012 supplements program but could join the Dockers as a free agent later this year.

Fox Footy reported on Monday that the All Australian had been targeted by Fremantle with the lure of a lucrative five-year deal.

Hooker will likely become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, with Essendon likely to receive generous compensation in the form of a high draft pick should he choose to take up an offer to leave the club.

With former skipper Matthew Pavlich almost certainly in his final season with Fremantle, the West Australian club needs to replenish its key position stocks, with the versatile Hooker, who was recruited from WAFL club East Fremantle, an enticing prospect.

Hooker has played 133 games for the Bombers since he was selected with pick No.54 in the 2007 national draft.
