Franklin out of Hawks clash with Suns

Star Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin is out of Sunday’s AFL match against Gold Coast.

The Hawks released a statement on Sunday afternoon before the opening bounce at the MCG, saying Franklin had fallen ill the night before.

“Lance became ill at home last night, suffering nausea, headaches and dizziness, and was seen by the club doctor who advised that (he) was in some doubt to play today,” the statement said.

“The club doctor has assessed Lance again this morning, and on his advice the club has decided to withdraw (him) from today’s game.”

This will be the sixth game that Franklin has missed since he suffered a hamstring injury in round 15.

Chance Bateman will take his place in the side.

Sam Mitchell was also a late withdrawal from the Hawks side on Saturday because of a leg injury.
