Boom Sydney recruit Lance Franklin is adamant he will see out the full nine seasons of his $10 million deal with the Swans, though the AFL club’s boss admits the final few years of the deal are a risk.

Franklin was unveiled as the latest in a list of big-name recruits for the Swans which includes the likes of Barry Hall and Tony Lockett – with the only question marks seemingly being the length of the deal.

The two-time premiership winner will be 35 by the time the deal runs out, but says he still sees himself pulling on the red and white in 2022.

“Definitely. I love playing my football, I love getting out there, I love training,” Franklin told a packed media conference.

“I can definitely see myself playing until I’m that age.”

Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland admitted however that there was some risk over the back end of the deal.

“Most people in a free agency state who would trying to secure someone like Lance would say a six-year deal is something that’s reasonable,” Ireland said.

“We probably see if there’s some risk it’s the years after that.

“We think he will be playing at 35.

“But there’s a degree of risk with everything you do. There’s no reason not to think he won’t be playing.”

And not only does Franklin think he will be playing, but he thinks Swans fans could see the best of the two-time Coleman medallist.

“I think my best footy’s still there,’ he said.

“Players can get to their prime at 26, 27.

“Look at Goodesy (Adam Goodes) for instance, what’s he, 33?

” I think there’s a lot of good football left in me.

“As long as I have a good pre-season and do everything right, I’m going to be playing good football.”
