Franklin accepts one-match AFL ban

Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin will miss Friday night’s AFL qualifying final against Sydney after accepting a one-match suspension for rough conduct.

Franklin would have been sidelined for the Hawks’ first two matches of the finals series had he unsuccessfully challenged the charge at the tribunal on Tuesday night.

Franklin was reported for a late, high bump on Swans defender Nick Malceski in last Friday night’s game at ANZ Stadium.

The level two offence brought a penalty of 225 demerit points, which was reduced to 168.75 with the early guilty plea.
