Preview:

The last game of round 13 takes place between Essendon and Melbourne, Sunday 4.40PM at the MCG.  While the Bombers will go into this match as favourites, they have struggled against lower-placed teams this season and are a long way from top form.  This should give the Demons some confidence going into this match, with Melbourne also desperate for redemption after losing to the Bombers by 148 points in Round 2 last year.  Melbourne had beaten the Bombers three consecutive times before their massive loss last year, and will be desperate to get back to their winning way against a Bombers team compromised by injuries, sketchy form, and ASADA issues.

News:

Paul Marsh, the man who has spent the majority of his professional life bettering the workplace rights of Australian cricketers, is the new chief executive of the AFL Players’ Association.

Former Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) boss Marsh, the son of Test great and chief selector Rod, was announced on Tuesday as Matt Finnis’ successor.

Finnis quit the post to join St Kilda.

Marsh joined the ACA in 2001, was elevated to CEO in 2005 and became executive chairman of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations last year.
