Essendon AFL player stabbed

Essendon AFL footballer Nathan Lovett-Murray has been stabbed.

Lovett-Murray, 30, is being treated in Royal Melbourne Hospital.

He was stabbed during an altercation on Tuesday night, a club spokesman said.

Details of Lovett-Murray’s condition were still to be established.

The midfielder has played 143 games for the Bombers since making his senior debut in 2004.

Essendon chief executive Ian Robson will speak about the incident at a media conference at 0945 AEST at the club’s Windy Hill headquarters.
