Star West Coast midfielder Daniel Kerr is facing a race against time to prove his fitness for Saturday’s AFL western derby against Fremantle.
And ruckman Dean Cox also remains in doubt for the crunch match due to an ankle injury.
Kerr tallied just four possessions against Brisbane last week before being subbed off in the third quarter with a hamstring complaint.
Subsequent scans have ruled out any tears, but it did show Kerr suffered bleeding in the area.
Forward Jack Darling was struck down with a similar injury in round 16 but managed to get up for the following week.
Eagles coach John Worsfold said Kerr would be put through his paces at training on Wednesday afternoon to determine his availability.
“He’s certainly not ruled out and we’ll see how he feels when he runs around today. His first test will be what he does today,” Worsfold said on Wednesday morning.
“We won’t take any risks with him.
“But if there’s nothing wrong with him in terms of being able to play, he’s very keen to play.”
Cox is recovering well from his ankle complaint and is considered a better chance than Kerr to play.
Worsfold said Mitch Brown, Jacob Brennan and Ash Smith were all in line to replace suspended skipper Darren Glass.
Should Kerr be ruled out, Tom Swift would be in line for a recall following some impressive displays in the WAFL.
