‘Dogs leave Macrae out of AFL again

Forward Jackson Macrae remains out of the Western Bulldogs lineup for Sunday’s AFL match against Melbourne at the MCG.

After being dropped for last week’s narrow loss to Fremantle, Macrae was added to the 25-man squad.

But the Bulldogs only made one change to their final team, promoting former Sydney defender Shane Biggs for his first game with the club.

Mitch Honeychurch is sidelined because of soreness, with ruckman Will Minson also spending another week out of the senior team.

The Demons made five changes, three of them forced.

Jack Watts will return after his self-imposed week in the VFL and Melbourne also recalled Jesse Hogan, Jack Fitzpatrick, Aidan Riley and Ben Newton.

They dropped Viv Michie and Billy Stretch, while Dom Tyson (knee), Chris Dawes and Christian Salem (hamstring) are unavailable.

A fortnight after coach Damien Hardwick flagged the idea, Richmond will play key forwards Jack Riewoldt, Ty Vickery and Ben Griffiths in the same side.

Griffiths will return from concussion for the away match this Sunday against Port Adelaide.

Shane Edwards also returns after he was was a late withdrawal from last week’s win over Collingwood because of a calf muscle injury.

Youngsters Todd Elton and Liam McBean made way for them.

Port Adelaide will welcome back star midfielder Ollie Wines, who has been out of action since round three with a wrist injury.

The out-of-form Power also recalled defender Alipate Carlile and Sam Gray.

They dropped Kane Mitchell, Matthew Broadbent and Cam O’Shea.

Essendon left out Shaun McKernan for their home game against Brisbane and lost Jason Ashby (shoulder) and Kyle Langford (quad).

As expected, Paul Chapman, Adam Cooney and Jake Carlisle are back.

The Lions will regain Dayne Beams and promoted Liam Dawson for his AFL debut.

Tom Cutler has an ankle injury and Mitch Golby was dropped.
