Fremantle are pinning their faith in Matt Taberner forming a strong combination with Jesse Hogan after they re-signed the spearhead for a further two AFL seasons.
Taberner was already contracted for 2019 and will now be linked with the club until the end of 2021.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of being delisted at the end of 2017 before some hot form in the WAFL saved his career.
Taberner was in strong form early last season before his campaign was curtailed by a foot injury.
Now he has the chance to establish himself in a forward line featuring new arrivals Hogan and Rory Lobb.
“It’s great to have Fremantle showing that faith in me and I really want to repay the club by playing some good footy,” Taberner said.
“I’m excited about the direction the club is going in. We’ve got a great core of young to mid-tier players.
“There’s also some really valuable leaders at the top end, so I think the future is looking really bright.”
