Fremantle defender Alex Silvagni is set to miss the club’s first AFL game of 2013 if he accepts a one-match ban for headbutting handed down by the match review panel.
Silvagni was charged with misconduct for making contact with his head to Adelaide’s Jared Petrenko in their semi-final last Friday night.
He can reduce a possible two-match sanction to one match with an early guilty plea.
But Dockers teammate Hayden Ballantyne has escaped penalty for a bump on Adelaide’s Luke Thompson in the same match.
“It was the view of the panel there was no forceful high contact made and the majority of contact was made to player Thompson’s back,” the panel said in a statement on Monday.
