Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich has confirmed he requires surgery after battling niggling injuries for much of the AFL season.
Pavlich will fly to Melbourne this week where he will undergo a hip arthroscopy and also surgery on his troublesome achilles tendon.
The procedures will require a recovery period of about six to eight weeks, leaving Pavlich ready to join in at pre-season training in November.
And despite booting 69 goals this season and leading Fremantle into a semi-final berth, it seems Pavlich will miss out on All-Australian honours, with the 30-year-old not invited to Monday night’s ceremony.
But it’s better news for Dockers defender Luke McPharlin, who made the trip to Melbourne on Monday after receiving an invite.
Fremantle’s season ended on Friday night when they lost their semi-final battle against Adelaide by 10 points at AAMI Stadium.
