Fremantle midfielder Greg Broughton will risk a one-match suspension when he challenges a rough conduct charge at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.
Broughton could have escaped with a reprimand had he chosen to lodge an early guilty plea to the level-one offence against Gold Coast’s David Swallow.
Geelong’s triple-premiership defender David Wojcinski will also front the VFL Tribunal on Tuesday night over a clash which broke the jaw of Melbourne draftee-in-waiting Jack Viney.
The incident was referred straight to the tribunal and whatever ban Wojcinski receives would also apply to the AFL.
The Cats defender was also suspended for one match for a separate striking charge on Viney.
Apart from Broughton, the other players charged by the match review panel this week lodged early guilty pleas.
West Coast goalsneak Ashton Hams will be sidelined for two matches for engaging in rough conduct against North Melbourne skipper Andrew Swallow.
Adelaide key-position player Shaun McKernan will miss Saturday’s home game against Geelong after pleading guilty to striking Sydney’s Alex Johnson.
Carlton ruck-forward Shaun Hampson and Port Adelaide midfielder Travis Boak were been docked $1800 for making negligent contact with an umpire.
