Deledio unsure on his AFL fitness

Richmond forward Brett Deledio will wait until the last possible minute to declare his fitness for the Tigers’ AFL clash with Hawthorn.

Deledio strained his calf in Richmond’s 19-point, round 17 win over Essendon and is leaving the decision in the hands of the club’s medical staff.

“I’ll be off [training] by myself and will just see how it feels and see what I can get through,” Deledio told RSN927.

“If it’s not feeling great, I’ve still got another couple of days up my sleeve to see if it gets alright.”

“It felt very similar to what I did in round one a couple of years ago when I played through it and it ended up costing me three or four weeks,” he said.

“(I) knew if I stopped then that (I’d have) a chance to get it early and hopefully not miss too many.”
