Davey accepts two-match AFL ban

Essendon forward Alwyn Davey will not play again in the AFL until July after accepting a two-match suspension for engaging in rough conduct against Sydney’s Daniel Hannebery.

Davey risked being sidelined for three games had he challenged the charge at the tribunal and been unsuccessful.

With the Bombers having the bye this weekend, Davey will not be eligible to return until the Bombers’ clash against St Kilda on July 7.

He will miss games against Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs.

The tribunal will not be required to sit on Tuesday night after all players charged in the first five matches of round 11 submitted early guilty pleas.

Fremantle’s Hayden Ballantyne has been banned for one match for striking Richmond captain Chris Newman.

Geelong defender Josh Hunt was fined $1350 for misconduct after stepping on the hand of Carlton’s Eddie Betts.

Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley was fined $900 sanction for making an obscene gesture during the last quarter of Saturday’s win over Richmond.

And Port Adelaide’s Danyle Pearce and Hawthorn’s Liam Shiels were both docked $900 for wrestling.

In charges laid on Tuesday from the Queen’s Birthday fixture at the MCG, Melbourne’s Luke Tapscott can accept a one-match suspension for striking Collingwood’s Alex Fasolo.

Tapscott caught Fasolo with an elbow to the back after arriving late to a marking contest.

Collingwood’s Brownlow medallist Dane Swan has been offered a reprimand and 45 carryover points for tripping Melbourne’s Sam Blease.

Magpies midfielder Dayne Beams can accept a $1950 sanction for making reckless contact with an umpire.
