Crows wait on injured Jenkins scans

Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins is confident he has avoided an AFL season-ending knee injury.

Jenkins has been told by club medicos that he didn’t tear the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Thursday night’s 33-point win against Richmond.

Jenkins’ right knee graphically hyper-extended in the last minute of Adelaide’s victory and he was stretchered from Adelaide Oval.

“I think I have escaped (an ACL),” he told the Seven Network.

“We will have to get some pictures (scans) but the worst-case scenario looks pretty out of the question.”

The injury comes just as Jenkins was hitting top gear after being dropped from Adelaide’s side for a six-game stretch.

Jenkins booted four goals in the triumph against the Tigers, taking his goal tally to nine in the three games since his AFL recall.

“He was probably the dominant forward on the ground so fingers crossed it’s not too bad and we can get him back out there as soon as possible,” Crows coach Don Pyke said post-match.

“He is a bit sore and ginger at the moment. It’s too early to tell what level of damage that is and whether he misses weeks or not.

“But at this stage it’s positive news that it looks like his ACL is fine.”

The fourth-placed Crows enter their bye weekend with other injury worries – Daniel Talia (thigh), Jake Kelly (calf) and Lachlan Murphy (broken teeth) were all hurt against Richmond.
