Crows utility signs three-year AFL deal

Adelaide’s Ricky Henderson has had some good news as he tries to return to the AFL side, with the Crows announcing a three-year contract extension for the utility.

Henderson turned 24 on Tuesday and has played 40 games for Adelaide since his 2010 debut.

He suffered an ankle injury in round 16 and returned to the SANFL a fortnight ago.

Adelaide recruiter Hamish Ogilvie spotted Henderson at a basketball talent identification camp in 2008 and the club recruited him through the 2009 rookie draft.

“For someone with a limited background in football, Ricky has come a long way in his short time with the club,” Adelaide list manager David Noble said.

“We believe he still has plenty of room to improve and are pleased he has committed to the club for another three years.

“Rick’s versatility and outstanding speed make him a valuable member of our team.”
