Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs says he’s disappointed to be snubbed by the AFL’s All Australian selectors.
The Crows ruckman’s omission shocked his teammates as selectors opted for West Coast ruck duo Nic Naitanui and Dean Cox.
“Naturally you do get disappointed, especially when you hear a lot of people saying ‘you should have been in there’,” Jacobs told AAP on Tuesday.
“But I guess the best thing for me is, I’m playing in a prelim this week.
“It puts it in perspective – I’m here to win a premiership, I’m not here to be All Australian.”
The Crows, who meet Hawthorn in Saturday’s preliminary final, had two midfielders chosen as All Australians – Scott Thompson and Patrick Dangerfield.
And both said they wouldn’t have been selected if not for Jacobs.
“Our season is probably a reflection of what he has been able to do to make us look like better players,” Thompson said.
“He is very stiff to miss out on selection.”
Dangerfield echoed Thompson’s sentiment.
“It was a bit of a surprise, he has had an outstanding season and certainly we wouldn’t be here if he didn’t have as a good a season,” Dangerfield said on Tuesday.
Jacobs appreciated the praise from his key on-ballers.
“That is nice to hear that from those boys, we are all pretty tight in that midfield group,” Jacobs said.
“We do bounce a lot of each other and we have worked really well together this year.”
