Crows beat Dockers in AFL trial match

A fast-finishing Adelaide beat an outnumbered Fremantle by five points in Saturday’s AFL trial at AAMI Stadium.

The Crows fielded five more players than Fremantle and it proved decisive in a 13.11 (89) to 13.6 (84) win in a match played in 34-degree heat.

Adelaide’s Brodie Martin booted three goals and teammates Lewis Johnston, Josh Jenkins and Tim McIntyre each kicked two.

Fremantle linchpins Nat Fyfe (19 disposals) and David Mundy (17 possessions) made successful first appearances this pre-season while Tendai Mzungu and Hayden Crozier both kicked two goals.

The Dockers booted the initial six goals of the game and held a 35-point advantage at halftime.

But the Crows, using their extra players, scored nine goals to three in the second half – but it took them until the 21st minute of the final quarter to take the lead for the first time.

Docker veteran Kepler Bradley had a shot at goal to tie the scores with 15 seconds remaining, but missed.
