Coming off a big win in Round 1 over arch-rival Carlton, the Magpies return to their heartland of Victoria Park to take on the Gold Coast Suns this Saturday arvo.
In what was an arm-wrestle to begin with, Collingwood were simply outstanding in the season opener.
Chloe Molloy and Bri Davey are excellent up forward and their defence headed by Stacey Livingstone shows that the Magpie women are no easy beats in season 2021.
Gold Coast, on the other hand, started well in their match against Melbourne leading at quarter-time before some costly mistakes.
The Suns gave away some 50-meter penalties and allowed the Dees to kick five unanswered goals, putting the game beyond doubt and losing their first clash of the year by 21 points.
It was great to see Sarah “Tex” Perkins back playing footy at her new club, taking a contested mark, kicking a goal at the quarter-time siren and adding another in the third.
She would be one to consider for first goal kicker in this game.
This will be the first AFLW meeting between the two clubs and as has been the case since 1892, you simply can’t go past the Pies at Vic Park.
