In their last encounter in May, the Magpies dominated the Giants with a score of 120-55, following a tighter 88-77 victory back in June 2022.

Over the past ten matches, the Magpies have secured just three wins against the Giants, while their opponents have notched seven victories.

Collingwood Magpies’ Performance

The Magpies were exceptional throughout the home and away season, securing 18 wins out of a possible 23, allowing them to claim the top spot on the ladder and the minor premiership.

Questions arose when they suffered three defeats in their final four matches, potentially jeopardizing their chances of Grand Final success. However, the Magpies bounced back with an emphatic 101-31 victory over the Essendon Bombers in the final round, sealing the minor premiership. This was followed by a hard-fought 60-53 win over the Melbourne Demons, propelling the Magpies straight into the Preliminary Finals, just a step away from the Grand Final.

Nick Daicos has been declared fit after recovering from a knee issue, and he is likely to replace Taylor Adams, who is dealing with a hamstring problem.

GWS Giants’ Form

Although the GWS Giants finished seventh on the ladder, they’ve demonstrated that ladder positions in the home and away season often mean little when heading into the finals.

Their 13 regular season wins were followed by an impressive interstate victory over St Kilda (101-77) in the Elimination Final. Last week’s Semi-Final saw them perform even better, securing a stunning 93-70 win over Port Adelaide Power, who finished third on the ladder.
