The time will come when Brisbane recruit Allen Christensen is ready to detail the personal reasons that led to him leaving AFL club Geelong.

But that time is not now, with Christensen wanting a degree of privacy as he prepares to start life at the Gabba.

“There are a couple of underlying issues, but they’re my problem and no one else’s,” Christensen said on Tuesday.

“I’m on top of everything.

“I’m not the only one who goes through it.

“I’ll come out in due time and talk about it, because I think I can be a really good role model to the community.

“I’ll deal with that myself and with the family and friends around me.”

Christensen, who requested a trade to Queensland last week, noted he was now “in a happy place”.

“This change-up for me was never about money or anything like that,” he said.

“I’ve copped a bit over the last week, but the people who are giving me stick are the ones who don’t care about me.”

The Cats received pick No.21 and were happy to accept the somewhat lopsided deal for a midfielder who has played 65 games and will soon be entering the prime of his career.

“They were completely understanding of where I wanted to head in my life,” said the 23-year-old, who was part of Geelong’s 2011 premiership side.

“I leave on really good terms with the football club and all the players down there.”

Christensen underwent back surgery twice this year.

The speedster, who went under the knife in September and missed the Cats’ fruitless finals campaign, suggested he was on track to start training in eight weeks.

“I’m pretty much pain-free and passed the medical (examination) the other day, so they (Brisbane) were happy with it,” he said.
