Geelong have recruited Western Bulldogs great Brad Johnson as a specialist coach, working with the club’s small and medium forwards.
Johnson, who booted 558 goals in 364 games with the Bulldogs, will work with the Cats on a part-time basis over the preseason.
It will be the first foray into AFL coaching for Johnson, who has overseen the AFL Academy development squad since 2013 while also working in the media.
“We are pleased to be able to add someone of the calibre of Brad to our coaching staff,” Geelong coaching director Simon Lloyd said on Monday.
“Brad will work with our small forwards who will gain great insight and benefit from his knowledge of the game.”
A six-time All-Australian, Johnson holds the record for most games played at the Western Bulldogs, captaining the side for four seasons.
