Carlton land four Giants in AFL mega-trade

Carlton has secured a mega-trade of four GWS Giants, but lost promising forward Troy Menzel to Adelaide in the biggest move of the AFL trade window.

Giants Lachie Plowman, Liam Sumner, Jed Lamb and Andrew Phillips all move to Carlton in exchange for draft picks.

Adelaide’s Sam Kerridge joins them at the Blues in a swap for Menzel and a second-round draft selection.

The deal was masterminded by Carlton’s list manager Stephen Silvagni, who held a similar position at the Giants.

The Blues gave up their 2016 first-round selection, gained by trading Lachie Henderson to Geelong, as well as picks No.28, No.77 and No.95 in the 2015 draft for the Giants.

The wooden-spooners retain the highly-prized first pick in November’s draft.
