Carlton Blues vs Port Adelaide Power 2013 AFL Round 8 preview and tips

Carlton headed into last week’s match against St. Kilda with three successive wins under the belt and accordingly, started short priced favourites.

It appeared at the conclusion of the first quarter that it was going to be tight contest however, Saints came out in the second and again in the third term, dominating play and leading by 36 points well into the fourth quarter.

The Blues rallied late but in the end, came up nine points short.

It will serve as a good wake up call and expect the Blues to bounce back.

Port who were undefeated in their first five matches of the season, have lost that momentum in recent weeks with defeats to North and Adelaide by 10 and 41 points respectively.

This match will test the Port’s character and they’ll need to, at least, put in a competitive performance to ensure the foundation they laid in the first month of the competition, isn’t lost all together.

They got the better of Carlton last time they met but that was their first one over the Blues since Round 19, 2007.

Carlton to be too good.
