Preview:
Barring a miracle or disaster, depending on which side of the fence you view this game from, it’s hard to see this game resulting in anything other than a comfortable victory for the Blues.
The Demons earned themselves some reprieve from a disastrous season with a win over GWS a fortnight ago but were immediately brought back down to earth by the Lions last week 122- 94.
Carlton, who lost their first three matches, were able to register their first win over the West Coast Eagles in Western Australia a fortnight ago and consolidated that win with another, when away to the Crows last week and victorious by 32 points.
Admittedly, neither the Eagles or the Crows are in good form at the moment but these two wins were exactly what the Blues required as in the coming weeks they have Lions, Suns and St. Kilda before a potentially horrid run of matches that include Essendon, Hawthorn, Sydney and Collingwood.
They’ll need to win this and in good style to put themselves in a positive position moving forward.

Blues lose Carrazzo for Demons AFL clash
Carlton’s Andrew Carrazzo has joined fellow Blues midfield key Bryce Gibbs as an injury absentee for Sunday’s AFL clash with Melbourne at the MCG.
Key forward Jarrad Waite will play his first game of the season after overcoming a calf injury, an addition coach Mick Malthouse said should give the Blues’ attack the structure they’ve missed.
But Carrazzo was withdrawn from the side on Saturday with what the coach said was a minor calf injury.
His replacement, 21-year-old Jaryd Cachia, will make his debut and, like Carrazzo, is a hard-tackling midfielder slated for a run-with role.
Also like the man he replaced, Cachia had to be rookie-drafted twice to an AFL club before finally breaking through for his debut.
While Carrazzo spent two years as a rookie with Geelong before getting his start with the Blues, Cachia was initially rookie-listed by Carlton in 2010-11, then delisted, before being rookie-drafted again after playing in a premiership with SANFL side Norwood last year.
“He will step into that role that Andrew Carrazzo has vacated and it gives him something to get his teeth into. It’s a very good story,” Malthouse told reporters after the Blues’ closed training session on Saturday.
Malthouse said Carrazzo was likely to miss only the one match.
The coach was relishing Waite’s return.
“It’s good to get a player in, that we need into our system,” Malthouse said.
“What we get is someone that can put some heat on that forward line through the air and we know how quick he is on the ground.”
While Malthouse has been critical of the Blues’ tall forwards in recent weeks, he said Shaun Hampson deserved to be cut some slack after recently returning from having his appendix removed.
The clash with the struggling Demons gives Carlton a great chance to even their win-loss record at 3-3, after starting the season with three losses, particularly after Melbourne lost Mark Jamar and Jack Watts to injury among six team changes.
But Malthouse said while Melbourne’s selected side were inexperienced, they were also unpredictable, particularly in attack, where Mitch Clark is also missing.
