Preview:
The first match of Round 7 takes place on Friday night, with the Blues taking on the Magpies, 7.50PM at the MCG. Collingwood will be favourites to win this traditional battle, especially coming off their big comeback against the Bombers in the Anzac Day clash. Currently sitting 4th on the ladder with a 4-2 record, the Pies midfield was great last round, with Brownlow medallist Dane Swan especially dangerous with 26 disposals and four goals.
The Blues can’t be counted out, however, with Carlton looking for three wins in a row after defeating the Western Bulldogs and West Coast in the last two weeks. While they are a long way behind the Magpies in 16th ladder position, the Blues have definitely turned a corner lately and will want to keep the momentum going. Carlton are likely to find it tough this weekend, however, with the Magpies having won seven of their last nine clashes against the Blues.

News:
Collingwood’s Marley Williams will make his AFL return on Friday night, less than two weeks after being given a 12-month suspended jail sentence.
Williams was found guilty by a jury earlier this year of causing grievous bodily harm to Matthew Robertson in a one-punch attack that broke Robertson’s jaw.
Williams in February stood himself down from playing at any level this season until he was sentenced.
The 20-year-old made his VFL return last weekend and will tackle Carlton at the MCG, shaping as a like-for-like replacement for rebounding defender Alex Fasolo (toe).
The Magpies made two forced changes to the side that defeated Essendon, also bringing in Sam Dwyer for Alan Toovey (hamstring).
The Blues included veteran Andrew Carrazzo at the expense of hamstrung Chris Yarran.
Meanwhile, Sydney superstar Lance Franklin (knee) will miss his side’s clash with Brisbane on Saturday night.
The Swans recalled Sam Reid and Brandon Jack, dropping utility Lewis Roberts-Thomson.
“Structurally his knee is OK, but the soreness was enough that he wasn’t able to train today,” Swans coach John Longmire said of Franklin on Thursday.
“He wasn’t able to do much, which means he’s out.”
The Lions’ hopes of causing an upset at the Gabba will be damaged by the absence of Pearce Hanley (back), who was replaced by Rohan Bewick.
Fit-again goalsneak Angus Monfries, who has overcome a hamstring injury, will return for table-topping Port Adelaide when they face GWS in Canberra on Saturday.
The Giants made five changes, with the omission of Josh Hunt (knee) the only one of them caused by injury.
St Kilda, who face Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday, also made five changes while the Hawks brought back Ryan Schoenmakers and Billy Hartung at the expense of Will Langford (back) and Jonathan Simpkin (omitted).
Western Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney also swung the axe, dropping Daniel Giansiracusa, Lin Jong, Tom Young and Tom Campbell for their crunch clash with Essendon on Saturday night.
Dale Morris is back for the Bulldogs, while the Bombers regained Brendon Goddard and Heath Hocking.
Both Adelaide and Melbourne named unchanged teams, with Crows coach Brenton Sanderson opting against rushing key forward Taylor Walker back from injury.
North Melbourne coach Brad Scott also took a conservative approach with skipper Andrew Swallow.
The Kangaroos are likely to make the one change, welcoming back Scott Thompson for their Sunday fixture at home against Gold Coast after serving a one-match suspension.
West Coast captain Darren Glass, Fremantle on-baller Michael Barlow, Richmond playmaker Brett Deledio and Geelong’s Steven Motlop were among the big-name inclusions among the extended squads for Sunday’s three games.
The Tigers also drafted Alex Rance, Ty Vickery, Aaron Edwards, Orren Stephenson and Matt Thomas into their 25-man squad.
