Carlton accept Waite’s one-match AFL ban

Carlton have decided against fighting forward Jarrad Waite’s headbutt penalty, and have accepted his one-match ban from the AFL match review panel.

Waite was charged with misconduct for a light headbutt on Melbourne defender Tom McDonald early in his long-awaited comeback from a series of injury problems.

He will miss the Blues’ showdown with St Kilda next Monday night.

The tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night after St Kilda forward Justin Koschitzke also accepted a two-match sanction for striking Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott at the weekend.

Geelong skipper Joel Selwood and Richmond’s Chris Newman have also accepted fines for wrestling.
