Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge is keeping a secret.
Beveridge’s club has been asked by the AFL where they’d prefer to play their finals, should they qualify.
The choices are Brisbane, the Gold Coast or Adelaide.
But Beveridge isn’t detailing his preference, noting his club still has to beat Fremantle on Sunday to secure a finals spot.
“I would rather not go there, not a week before we have qualified, I don’t think we have got the right,” he said after Sunday’s 36-point belting of Hawthorn.
“They have asked the question, the AFL. And behind the scenes we will probably give them an answer because you have to.
“But I’d rather not declare it publicly because it’s getting ahead of ourselves a bit.”
The Bulldogs hold seventh spot entering the last home-and-away round.
And Beveridge’s Dogs came from seventh to win the 2016 premiership, but he’s not drawing comparisons.
“It’s a long time ago,” he said.
“And our make-up is very different.”
Instead, Beveridge is focused on beating Fremantle without Toby McLean, who is feared to have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee.
“We will reflect on some of the games we have lost against the teams up the top of the ladder and we will remember why they got the better of us,” he said.
“And our challenge will be to beat Fremantle this week, who have tested a number of those sides.
“I have always said, we’re impatient, we’re in a hurry. You can have dramatic improvement pretty quickly.
“We feel like if you have got a spirit in your team and a collective mind that you can beat anyone … but time will tell if we actually make it.”
