Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au is basically giving away free money. Punters know that Dustin Martin will bag the Brownlow tonight, one in particular, placing a huge $85,000 bet on the Tigers star at $1.05.
Over 40% of all money has been on Martin. After getting out to as much as $10, he’s shortened into $1.05.
The short price hasn’t been enough to deter punters, with other big bets of $19,600 and $15,000 coming in for him at $1.05 and a $14,500 bet at $1.20.
Martin is holding six times the money compared to second best backed Tom Mitchell ($12).
The worst result for the bookies would be Adelaide’s Matt Crouch who is currently paying $41. Sportsbet will fork out over $2.2million to punters if he wins.
