Brown looks good for Suns-Lions AFL derby

Gold Coast hardman Campbell Brown is set to run out in his first Queensland AFL derby after all but confirming his availability for Saturday night’s Gabba showdown with Brisbane.

Brown cruised through Suns’ training on the tourist strip on Wednesday after a groin complaint ensured he was a frustrated onlooker last round as the Suns went down by 17 points to Essendon.

“I got through training today and it felt pretty good,” Brown said.

“It’s up to the coaches and team selection in the next couple of days.”

Brown missed both Queensland derbies last season due to suspension and injury.

The ex-Hawthorn premiership-winning player backed the Suns against their arch-enemy this weekend after the encouraging effort against the undefeated Bombers.

“The effort was there which was fantastic. It was a bit nerve-wracking having to sit there and watch it,” he said.

“We are starting to build a great rivalry and I am looking forward to getting out there and contributing.”
