Are the Lions back on track?
Handing Collingwood its first loss on Easter Thursday should do wonders for Brisbane’s confidence, but after a couple of frustrating performances already this year against Port and the Dogs, one has to wonder which Lions team will show up on Saturday.
As the odds suggest, a game against a young and improving North side should give a serious flag contender like Brisbane no problems, but typically speaking, this is the kind of game that has given Chris Fagan fits in recent times.
Fortunately for Brisbane, the Roos have come crashing back down to earth with a pair of losses to Hawthorn and Carlton, but there have been positives to draw overall.
North’s first-half effort last week was strong, and fans have to love what they are seeing from Luke Davies-Uniacke and new Rising Star favourite, Harry Sheezel.
To be fair, Brisbane gave the Roos a 108-point hiding when they met at the Gabba last year, and if they can force Alastair Clarkson’s side into committing the same costly turnovers that saw Collingwood undone, they might just put up a similar margin.
The battle through the midfield will be fascinating with Sheezel taking on fellow gun rookie Will Ashcroft, while up forward, North’s young back line will have its hands full with Charlie Cameron coming off a six-goal game.
Backing Brisbane is frustrating in that you never know what you are going to get week on week, but with Cam Rayner likely playing up forward again and the pressure really dialed up a notch last week against the Pies, a big Lions win might be on the cards.
