Punters have been quick to jump on the Brisbane Lions after their surprise NAB Cup victory, with punters coming out of the woodwork with online bookmaker sportsbet to back them for both the Premiership and round 1.
While three weeks ago they were priced at $2.00 to beat the Western Bulldogs in round 1 (also priced at $2.00), they have firmed significantly after a brilliant NAB Cup campaign and have been the biggest movers for the round, now into $1.55.
As a result the Bulldogs have drifted out to $2.40.
The Lions have also attracted punter action for the flag over the weekend, in from $101 to $67.
In the round 1 matches being played this weekend, Adelaide have been the best backed team and remain $1.45 favourites over Essendon ($2.75), while despite being $2.20 outsiders, Fremantle have received twice the amount of bets than West Coast ($1.66).
