Brisbane extend pair’s AFL contracts

Brisbane have extended the AFL contracts of Matthew Leuenberger and Dayne Zorko.

Ruckman Leuenberger, 25, has agreed a two-year extension with the Lions while 24-year-old Zorko has signed a new three-year deal.

Leuenberger was pick four in the 2006 draft and has established himself as the Lions top ruckman despite an injury-ravaged start to his career.

Zorko was snared by the Lions after being overlooked by Gold Coast in 2011 and claimed the club’s rookie of the year award in 2012.

Lions football operations manager Dean Warren said securing the pair to long-term deals had been an aim of the club.

“Matthew and Dayne’s retention was an absolute priority for the club,” he said.

“We’re confident they’ll be playing key roles in future success.”
