Bombers veteran McVeigh retires from AFL

Essendon midfielder Mark McVeigh has announced his retirement from the AFL.

The 31-year-old midfielder has decided to quit after 232 games, despite an offer from Bombers coach James Hird to play on next season.

McVeigh has struggled with injuries this season and said this was the major reason for his decision after spending 13 years with the club.
