Bombers deny wasting the AFL season

Essendon coach James Hird has denied it’s been a wasted AFL year for the club.

The Bombers have lost all but one of their last 10 matches, and are on track for their worst season record in a decade.

Hird said while the club has underperformed on the field – while suffering in their third season of speculation about the club’s 2012 supplements program – both he and his team are still enjoying their football.

Against Adelaide on Saturday, Tayte Pears and David Myers will resume their AFL careers after long absences.
