Beveridge slams Suns in AFL

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has slammed as “disrespectful” the way AFL rivals Gold Coast head-hunted their high performance manager.

Just four days after the Bulldogs over-ran the Suns with a blistering 10-goal final term in Cairns, Gold Coast announced they had secured the services of Justin Cordy for next season and beyond.

“I find it unusual that (Gold Coast) wouldn’t run a process and do everything they can to find the absolute best candidate,” Beveridge said on Friday.

“We really rate Justin, he’s been terrific for us.

“For for me that’s really convenient and interesting that they just head-hunt someone from an AFL club.

“I find that really disappointing.”

Beveridge said the Bulldogs had yet to decide whether Cordy would see out the year with them, although he would definitely travel to Geelong for Saturday’s clash with the Cats.

“Justin is a contracted member of our staff and for me it’s really disrespectful of the Suns to talk publicly about their new relationship with him,” he said.

“They’ve really in some ways crossed the line I think and that’s disappointing.

“There are scruples and there’s integrity and I’m just not sure whether there has been integrity in what the Suns have done and the way they’re talking about it now.”
