Bartel signs new AFL deal with Cats

Star midfielder Jimmy Bartel has signed a one-year contract extension with Geelong which could see him become just the fourth Cat to reach the 300-game milestone.

Bartel, 31, who won the 2007 Brownlow Medal and was a key member of the Cats’ 2007, 2009 and 2011 premiership teams, has played 283 games.

The three members of the Cats’ 300 club are Ian Nankervis, John Newman and Bartel’s longtime teammate Corey Enright, who has also agreed to play on in 2016.
