Essendon assistant coach Matthew Egan will leave the club to chase other AFL opportunities.

The former Geelong defender joined the Bombers in 2012.

He was interim coach for three games at the end of last season after Essendon sacked James Hird.

Egan coached Essendon’s VFL team this season and also headed their development program.
