The San Francisco 49ers have gone with Carlos Hyde and Reggie Bush at running back and Bruce Ellington as kick returner for their opening plays against the Minnesota Vikings.
Australian rugby league convert Jarryd Hayne has been selected in the 46-man squad for Tuesday AEST’s season opener for the 49ers, but is yet to get on the field.
Hayne is expected to play as punt returner and back up running back in the game on their home field, Levi’s Stadium.
