Only a fortnight after the Top 8 appeared set in stone, just who will qualify for this year’s AFL finals series is up in the air after further losses by Richmond and West Coast and a surprise win to GWS at the weekend.
The Tigers (ninth) and West Coast (seventh) are now $1.50 to make the finals after being considered certainties two weeks ago, while St Kilda (11th) and Carlton (13th) breathed life into their seasons with wins, joining Essendon (12th) on the $5 line. GWS is $2.40 to hold its spot in the 8 with 10th-placed Fremantle $3.
There was significant movement in a number of individual awards with Harry McKay now odds-on ($1.75) to win the Coleman Medal after skipping five goals clear of Taylor Walker, who is under an injury cloud.
Tom Green charged back into favouritism for the Rising Star – $5 into $2.20 – after a fine performance against Melbourne, while Nik Cox is out to $7 after a quiet game against the Cats.
