It will surprise no one if Luke Jackson is on Thursday night crowned this year’s AFL Rising Star with the Demons’ forward a raging $1.06 favourite when TAB closed its market on Monday afternoon.
What might surprise, though, is the price Jackson got in to in a year that Rising Star favouritism was up for grabs for much of, despite Matt Rowell entering the season the $1.30 favourite.
Errol Gulden, who was as short as $3 in the weeks following Rowell’s Rd 1 injury, Lachlan Sholl ($4 after Rd 7), Nik Cox ($2.50 after Rd 13) and Tom Green, who was an odds-on favourite one month ago, were others to have stints at the top of the market.
Imagine what you could be buying instead.
