Sydney’s charge into premiership contention continued with yesterday’s win over the Western Bulldogs and the Swans are now considered a better hope of winning the flag than Richmond.
An $81 chance prior to the season, the Swans were as much as $34 just two weeks ago but are now $13. They are into $4 to finish Top 4 and are a season-low $1.05 to make the Top 8.
Of the Swans’ final six opponents, only seventh-ranked Fremantle occupies a spot in the eight.
The loss to the Swans resulted in the Bulldogs surrendering outright flag favouritism, drifting from $4.50 to $5 and equal billing with Geelong and Melbourne. Richmond drifted further, from $13 to $15, after its loss to Collingwood and is now $3 to make the Top 8.
Round 17 concludes tonight with West Coast $1.25 into $1.15 against North Melbourne ($3.90 to $5.20), while the $1.90 line has shifted from 22.5 points to 29.5 despite predictions of rain which has forced the Total Score line from 149.5 to 139.5.
