AFL coach Clarkson to face junior tribunal

Hawthorn AFL coach Alastair Clarkson will have to front a suburban junior competition’s tribunal for his behaviour towards an official at a match involving his son.

Clarkson, who was a runner in the under nines match on Sunday, has admitted to using expletives towards the official and has apologised.

But the South Metro Junior Football League have charged Clarkson with unacceptable behaviour of a bench official.

Clarkson will be required to front the league’s tribunal at a time and date to be confirmed, the league said in a statement on Tuesday.

Clarkson has said he was attempting to reorganise the players when both teams began to kick to the same end.

After repeatedly trying to explain the situation to the official, he was sent from the field, but admitted to using expletives towards the official.

The incident came a day after Clarkson slammed his hand through a wall in the MCG coaches’ box during Hawthorn’s win over Collingwood on Saturday.

He has agreed to pay for repairs to the wall.
